I at last found time to have another go on the wood turning lathe I bought. It’s good fun but it makes a mess and I was an inch deep in wood shavings when I packed up. I brushed it away to take this photo.
That’s the billet turned 🙂
The plan is to turn a chess piece and in this case the Castle. I have measured one and drawn it out so now I need to turn the billet down produce it.

If that turns out (a pun) to be all right I will think about a garden ornament size one from this piece of Ash.
Sort of like Russian dolls except they don’t hide inside each other.
I am not certain that I can swing the large log so I may have to axe it down to rough shape first. Let’s hope not, that won’t be fun will it.
